Bruce Springsteen Archives and Teachrock Announce Education Collaboration

The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University and E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt’sTeachRock education program will join forces to assist teachers in bringing American popular music into classrooms across the country. For years, TeachRock has created curricula for nearly all grade levels and has demonstrated the importance of integrating American music with civics, literature, history, sociology, and other scholastic courses.

“Springsteen as History” 7 Legendary Performances
Prof. Marilisa Merolla, Sapienza University, Rome, Italy

A first edition of The “Springsteen as History” Project was inaugurated in Spring 2020 by Merolla, visiting Professor at The New School and Associate Professor of Contemporary History at the Sapienza Università di Roma, and promoted by Keller Coker, Dean of The New School for Jazz And Contemporary Music. Due to the unexpected pandemic, the Spring 2020 edition was held online simultaneously in Rome and New York. Despite the challenges that this presented, the educational program was a huge success and culminated on 16 June 2023 with a special guest, Robert Santelli, music historian and founding executive director of the GRAMMY Museum and of The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University
