May 29, 2025
Global Story of Bruce Springsteen Fans Comes Home to the Jersey Shore.
West Long Branch, NJ — Tramps Like Us, the new and highly anticipated feature-length documentary exploring the global Springsteen fan community, will hold its world premiere on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 7:30 PM at the Pollak Theater at Monmouth University.
The Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, will co-sponsor the event — the perfect setting to debut this powerful, fan-driven tribute to Bruce Springsteen and his extraordinary impact. Also co-sponsoring the premiere is Spring-Nuts, the vibrant global fan community uniting Springsteen devotees through shared experiences, charitable endeavors and a deep appreciation for his music.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Tramps Like Us film to our Pollak Theatre for its premiere!” said Eileen Chapman, Director of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music. “We’re excited to share in the experiences and storytelling of fans near and far.”
Directed by David Barry, the film spans more than 250 interviews across 20 countries, weaving together deeply personal stories into a powerful global conversation.
“The Tramps Like Us film explores how Bruce Springsteen’s music, message and presence have shaped lives and created lifelong connections,” said Barry. “It’s a tribute to the extraordinary relationship between Bruce, his music and his fans.”
A true grassroots creation, Tramps Like Us was made possible by the Springsteen fan community itself. Over 350 fans from around the world contributed to a successful crowdfunding campaign that raised more than $50,000, making this one of the most ambitious fan-funded music documentaries to date.
The film’s Sunday evening premiere also will serve as the culminating event of the Spring-Nuts’ seventh annual Serenade weekend in Asbury Park, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the world-renowned Spring-Nuts fan group. This year the Spring-Nuts’ Sunday afternoon Serenade gala will take place at the Stone Pony on Aug. 24, from noon to 5 PM. (Ticket link is below.)
“Spring-Nuts is so proud and thrilled to be a co-promoter of this epic film Tramps Like Us,” said Howie and Julie Chaz, founders of Spring-Nuts. “We could not have asked for a better way to cap off Serenade weekend than to watch this mind-blowing collection of personal and profound Springsteen fans’ stories together with all our fellow Spring-Nuts at Monmouth University. David Barry has done an incredible job capturing Bruce’s legacy and deep connection with his fans. This is a must-see for any Springsteen fan.”
Both the Tramps Like Us film premiere and the Spring-Nuts’ Seaside Serenade 7 event, which will coincide with the Spring-Nuts’ 10-year anniversary celebration at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ, will be charity events with proceeds benefiting:
- Light of Day Foundation, which funds research and support in the fight against Parkinson’s disease and related illnesses through the power of music.
- TeachRock, which provides free educational resources that bring the sound, stories and science of music into classrooms. TeachRock was founded by E Street Band’s Stevie Van Zandt along with Bono, Jackson Browne, Martin Scorsese and Bruce Springsteen.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, 100% of ticket proceeds from the premiere will go to these charitable partners.
